Positive: The place itself is very beautiful - lovely pool and beach area. Our Deluxe Room was in a separate 3 store building facing the sea. The room was nice and the bathroom, too. There was a golf car that brought us to the building with our luggage. The surroundings were very beautiful with lots of tropical trees and flowers all over the place. If you love a tropical scenery, then this is the place to go. The hotel had a car service and at the cost of only 100 baht they would take you to the nearest village.

Negative: The minibar was not filled at all after we had eaten/drunk something from there. The room floor was not cleaned with water, somebody just wept it and that's all. Sometimes we were left with 4 bath towels, sometimes only two. Could understand the reason and had to go myself and get more towels. Cleaning ladies didn't understand a word of English so I had to describe with my hands what I wanted.
Only a couple of persons in the whole staff spoke English. So you can imagine that if you asked what a specific dish was made of, nobody could understand you and answer your question.

If you wanted to order room service, there was no menu in the room to choose your lunch/dinner. The only solution was to try to remember the restaurant menu and then order. Also the ordering process for room service was quite hilarious. Due to lack of English knowledge I was passed to 5 different people and finally one was able to speak to somebody who understood us. I can only imagine that if something terrible happens to you and you need urgent help, there's really nobody to save you.

The restaurant experience was not a pleasant one in the evening. Armies of mosquitos attacked us and at some point we had to interrupt our dinner because we were so badly bitten and had to rush to our room for medication.

A day before checking out I asked whether they accepted Diners Card. I had asked this already previously through email and had got a positive answer. But now to my great surprise they said that they would not accept Diners. Thank god I had enough cash with me, so no problem, but this inconsistency in answers made me wonder.

    * Liked — Comfortable room and bathroom
    * Disliked — Air conditioning caused a bath caugh for me and my child -> had to see a doctor

Stayed for 14 nights in march in a deluxe 2 room. Very nice location, very nice staff and the room was excellent.
Some of the other reviews might depend on people staying in older rooms, the newer rooms like the one we stayed in, was very nice.

Fantastic location, great views. Beautiful private beach with both shady trees and sun, meticulously cleaned twice a day by the grounds staff. Great pool. Nice landscaped gardens. So... it's almost paradise, isn't it? Except for a few things. The food is mediocre at best (though the breakfast buffet is very abundant and varied), so eat in Kai Bae if you can. And avoid the standard rooms if you can. While the rooms themselves are decent, clean and fairly spacious, the bathrooms are pretty awful. The deluxe rooms in the newer wings of the hotel are much better. Service is generally good but not overly enthusiastic and a bit slow.

The hotel is a little run down but let's be clear from the beginning : it is impossible to spend bad holidays in Koh Chang and in such a perfect location. The place and the buildings could make it one of the best hotels in Asia if properly managed.
After a few days, we changed to the Bhumiyama, excellent hotel 3km south exactly in the same price range (see review)

Very big hotel, many rooms, hundreds of employees very few of them speaking english, very average service... We had to resend a confirmation fax 3 times...
Great rooms but many things wrong :
    - armies of ants big as the width of a finger
    - not enough water pressure at peek hours
    - minibar but no bootle opener
    - tea but no cup or glasses
    - cleanliness not perfect
    - ...
    Breakfast food not great
    - chemical orange juice
    - frozen fruits
    - cold bacon
    - no chocolate for kids
    -...
We had to pay for the new year eve party (1800 baths) with average food and karaoke show, most people left before 11pm...
Not enough to waste your holidays but enough to move to

    * Liked — Perfect location and beach
    * Disliked — ants
    * Tips/Secrets: — Barbecue dinner on the beach 100m north

The Sea View Resort is on a hillside sloping down to the beach. It's a well run hotel in a great location and we really enjoyed out stay there.

The resort has what is almost a private beach with loungers and sun shades, plus a terrace and pool, also at beach level. Accommodation is in the cottages on the hillside and in regular room accommodation in the hotel's two main buildings.

We stayed in the deluxe cottage which had great views out to sea and a private balcony. The room was finished well, although a little on the small side.

The hotels restaurant was a little disappointing and overpriced. "Porn's Bungalows" next door, and a few minute's walk away right on the beach served a wide selection of Thai dishes.

House staff and the front desk were great; a lot of the rest of the staff left you with the impression that guests were a bit of an inconvenience.

Anyone travelling from Phnom Penh, Google Evolution Tours and make enquiries about the Phnom Penh to Koh Chang transfer by car which we found out about after arriving there via Bangkok.

We think the best place on koh chang. Very clean and the delux-room was lovely with a marvellous few.
Good food with excellent and friendly service. (Judged by my wife, chef de cuisine).
Only the fitness-room is a great disappointment! Old equipment, partly with no function, bad selection! And no further entertainment or bar or sth. else, except every evening the same sleepy music at diner.

On our nice stay on the Island we booked the Sea View for 4 days.
The rooms in the new building are very nice.
But I am sorry to say that we found the days at this hotel our worst hotel experience ever. The hotel charged us in advance…and what a mistake to accept!
We booked the hotel because of the big pool, but we had to escape due to noice from building-activity nearby. So after being told by a waiter at the pool that they did not have any ice to serve with the drinks(!) we decided to move to another hotel.
When asking the receptionist to refund our money they refused…..
On our way home we met a French couple that had been to the hotel for their second time. They could tell about a negative change in service a year ago compared to this year.
We moved to the "Garden Resort" and had a great time with really good and friendly service.
The hotel managment should concider a change in their "pay before you stay policy" and employ personell with better service attitude. If not the hotel will have to lower prices dramaticly.....or end up moore or less emty.

The Seaview is a very good resort. Deluxe rooms are comfortable. The restaurant and pool are vey nice. The beach is relatively small but okay. The only small point of critisism is the location: it's quite far from the village.

Absolutely horrific experience at Sea View. The worst service i have ever come across in ANY hotel, the rooms were horrible and seriously overpriced. This hotel was such a let down after we had stayed at some wonderful hotels in Cambodia and Thailand, and this hotel was double the price of what we had paid elsewhere. Do no stay here!!!
